Police and the Security Forces have informed the parties organizing Mahaviru commemorations in the North to refrain from any propaganda on the LTTE or its members and that any individual violating that requirement would be liable for arrest and legal action.
Several political organizations in the North had been commemorating the Mahaviru day on November 26 every year.
However, steps are being taken by them to hold the commemoration in Vavuniya, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Mannar and Jaffna.
