All seven SDIG transfers are sanctioned by the Police Commission! Ajith Rohana’s transfer is temporarily suspended and he is summoned to Colombo.

It is reported that the National Police Commission has approved the transfers of the seven controversial senior DIGs. Among them, Senior DIG Ajith Rohana, who was transferred to the Eastern Province, has been recommended to be temporarily summoned to the Colombo Police Headquarters.

Subject to the coverage approval of the Police Commission, IGP  D.C. Wickramaratne had to transfer the 07 senior DIGs with immediate effect in relation to the approval given by the Secretary of the Ministry of Public Security.

The Senior Deputy Inspector General of Southern Province, Ajith Rohana, sent a letter to the Ministry Secretary and the National Police Commission yesterday, stating that his immediate transfer from the Southern Province to the Eastern Province is illegal and there has been an abuse of power.

The National Police Commission, which has paid attention to the matter, has recommended that Mr. Ajith Rohana be transferred to the Colombo Police Headquarters until a decision is made regarding the matters mentioned in the letter. With that, it is reported that the transfers of other senior DIGs have been approved.

Due to this, the position of Senior DIG in charge of the East is currently vacant.

The number of senior DIGs who were transferred with immediate effect by the Secretary of the Ministry of Public Security subject to the approval of the National Police Commission is 07. L.S. Patinayake, Priyantha Weerasuriya, SC Medawatta, WK Jayalath, Ranmal Kodithuvakku, Ajith Rohana and LKWK. Silva and those senior DIGs. Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Central Province W.L.A.S. Priyantha Weerasuriya has also protested about his transfer, but the commission has not paid attention to it so far.
