Eyewitnesses said that a 55-year-old man was protesting, and after drinking alcohol, he climbed onto the roof of the courthouse.
It was also seen how the police officers together with the fire department officers of the Kurunegala Municipal Council were trying to get him down from the roof.
He is accusing the Malsiripura Police that they had filed a case against him in connection with an illegal liquor trade.
A large number of people gathered in front of the court to witness this incident.
