The Director General of the Meteorological Department Mr. Atula Karunanayake told ‘Mawrata’ that heavy rains have been occurring since the last 17th with the South West Monsoon being active. (Sri Lanka Latest News)
According to him, heavy rains between 100 and 150 millimeters will occur in Central, Western, South, North-Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces.
He also said that with the increase in South West Monsoon, there may be a risk of flooding in Ratnapura and Kalutara.
The Department of Meteorology stated that the hot weather that has been affecting the country so far is disappearing, and the South West Monsoon will continue until next September.
