Parliament Stays Intact; Presidential Election Set for October 5 – EXCLUSIVE Sri Lanka Latest News

In view of the demands received from various parties that the general election should be held before the presidential election, the sources of the Election Commission state that in order to hold the general election, the Parliament should be dissolved before the 15th of July. Sri Lanka Latest News

The sources indicate that the commission is ready to hold the general election if the parliament is dissolved before July 15, otherwise, there is no chance of holding the general election.

Meanwhile, reliable sources have reported to ‘Motherland’ that the presidential election is most likely to be held on October 5.

According to the Presidential Election Act, the 2024 presidential election should be held on a Saturday between September 17 and October 16.

The Saturdays during that period are September 21, September 28, October 5 and October 12.

According to these sources, October 5th will be chosen as the date for holding the presidential election.
