Yohani, the young girl in ‘Tik Tok’ style who told interesting stories about ‘Kottu Me’ as a simple girl, is now somewhat out of date.
Despite being an old story, the sensational turn around she made by winning the hearts and minds of North Indians remains fresh in our minds. However, veteran musician Chitral Somapala recently made an unusual comment about Yohani, the heartthrob of music lovers in north India, which raised some eyebrows.
Many people found Chitral Somapala’s comments about the rising star and her popularity to be unbearable. They bravely respond to Mr Chitral Somapala’s comments on social media platforms. Many so-called popular artists found Yohani Diloka Silva’s popularity to be unbearable.
Bolywood super star Salman Khan, despite his difficulty in pronouncing Sinhala, sang a few lines of Yohani’s ‘Manike Mage Hithe’ on a stage in India, demonstrating his humbleness.
He was so humble, but some Sri Lankan singers did not recognise Yohani’s talent. Even when they hear the song ‘Manike Mye Hita,’ they have evil thoughts about it. They reacted to Yohani’s sudden popularity by asking, ‘Where did this one come from?’ Who exactly is this…?
The crowd that clicks, likes and hearts, on every social media post did not bother to appreciate and like our little sensation Yohani. They did, however, quickly respond by liking and hearting the posts about Indian singer Ranu Mondal, who rose from singing in the street to producing her own CD. These posts received a lot of likes and hearts, but no one said anything any encouraging statement to Yohani.
How do you read this? Was it hypocrisy?
The answer is straightforward. Of course, there was hypocrisy. It is hypocrisy of unable to accept the popularity of a member of your own clan.
Chitral Somapala must have been hypocritical, despite being the son of two world-famous veteran singers. Yohani is a young girl who pales in comparison to Chitral’s expertise and knowledge. Why did he assign Yohani to such a low state that has no bearing on him whatsoever?
If one thinks about it after watching Chitral’s interview, it appears as if an expert like Chitral Somapala planned to deliberately smear Yohani. Mudita brought Yohani there willingly while talking and drinking coffee. A cowardly story about to be told abruptly gave way, as if he was waiting for an opportunity to sling mud at her.
Consider how low the stories he told were. Despicable.?
As he says, according to his opinion, Yohani went to sing to the fans of a country which is worth less.
Yohani was invited to perform in an unimportant country where no one knew anything about music. Yohani signed contracts worth the equivalent of an insignificant amount. It’s as if Chitral was so caught up in hypocrisy that he couldn’t recall even the few super stages that had been built in India’s capital, at least for Yohani.
There is no doubt that when he was slandering Yohani, he had a idiotic idea or a mania that India is not an ‘international ‘.
So Oh So, Malani Senehelatha Fonseka, the queen of Sinhala cinema, rose to international fame because of the awards she received from that country.
Anoja Weerasinghe won the Ranamayura Award and rose to international fame in that country.
Veteran actress Neeta Fernando and Damita Abeyratne rose to international fame in this country. Can the length and breadth of their music be measured by the measure of our music? How far have they gone in terms of music both academic and non-academic?
It was those musicians who accepted the musical style of our little Kottu Mee Girl who sang the song ‘Manike Mye Hite’ like Ar’s.
It was the Indian fans who were familiar with the melodious music of those composers who asked for the song ‘Manike Mye Hite’ shouting ‘once more’,
Check out to sing in the style of superstar Salman Khan, Yohani’s Songs. He had an urge to see if there was even one line of verse. When Yohani taught it, when Salman sang it in Hindu style, the cheers given by the Indian music lovers were worth a million to a new little emerging star like like Yohani.
Chitral got belittled the adulation received by that little girl.
If Chitral really wanted to say something about Yohani, could have told .
‘Yohani was good and had a good reputation among music lovers in India. But he still has a long way to go in the music world…’
He had to tell a story on that kind of balance level. But what did he say?
Who is Yohani? Yohani is a wave in the YouTube market….’
What is that song Yohani said? There is no enjoyment in it. I don’t understand why the people of India gave it such a place…’
‘Going to sing songs in India does not mean that you have gone internationally…’
Chitral, who mocked Yohani for an unbearable feeling,
He also said, ‘Oh I do not know…on the one hand, that child is sin,…’ We usually call someone ‘sin’ because of some helplessness. What is Yohani’s helplessness that Chitral saw here?
The other thing is that by condemning Yohani’s popularity in that way, Chitral made a big boost about himself.
‘When I sang in Sinhala in Germany, the people were watching with great enthusiasm. They walked up to me and said that this is the language of your country; the way you sing that language is very beautiful. That is what is called winning the international. That’s all Yohani did. She cannot go beyond that. She is not unlimited. She is limited.
Yohani, who won the fame by walking all alone as a girl younger than him, Chitral , talked publicly demonstrate that he is great. Chitral said ‘Yohani is a sin on one hand’, but when you really look at it, one should say Chitral is ‘sin’,?
However, Yohani did not get any comments or likes from the bookie in those days, but many people were hurt by Chitral’s hypocritical response about Yohani.
I don’t like Yohani or Yohani’s songs. But I don’t agree with what Chitral Somapala said about Yohani. Anyway, Yohani earned the money that Chitral had earned in one month. That’s what hurt him…’
That is one comment released for Chitral’s hypocritical response.
‘Yes, Chitral went international to wash the toilets of the whites. Yohani went on a different journey anyway…’
A great man who does not even know he is in Sri Lanka. Scolding a little girl who brought fame to Sri Lanka…’
‘Chitral perfectly showed the hypocrisy of one of his own developing, which cries out in the hearts of the Sinhalese…’
These are some of the many comments released on social networks blaming Chitral Somapala.
Going international does not mean going to India. That’s not how we went international. We did it realistically and with a lot of thought…’
Chitral had also told such a story.
On the one hand, his method may be right as he thinks. Yohani Diloka de Silva’s method is different from Chitral Somapala’s method.
Yohani, who wears short blouses and tattooed jeans to show her belly, had no big plans. She did not eat. She did not try to create a fan base for himself. They didn’t wait years to actually do something and show it.
But, Yohani had enthralled North Indian music lovers enough to build two sky-high stages for a small girl like her in the town of Delhi.
Contracts were signed for crores of Indian rupees.
Is it the difference that a veteran like Chitral Somapala could not bear?
The story that someone said in the above comment is not a lie.
The Sinhalese does not want to see the success of the own race. Chitral showed that hypocrisy wonderfully.
