In this regard, Dr. Sudarshani Fernandopulle, the Chairperson of the Forum of Women Members of Parliament, has requested the General Secretary of the Parliament, attorney at law Kushani Rohanadeera, to take strict action against the relevant officials. In a query to the Secretary General of the Parliament, she has mentioned that she will conduct an investigation and take appropriate measures. She has further said that the incident will not be taken lightly.
It is also reported that several members of the opposition are ready to be questioned in the Parliament in the coming days regarding the abuses that are said to be happening to young women in the housekeeping sector.
