The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today (12) recorded a statement from Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera for nearly three hours, over the investigations into alleged mega financial fraud committed by Thilini Priyamali, police sources said.
So far the CID has recorded statements from several prominent personalities such as film artistes over alleged involvement in this massive fraud.
It was reported that as per the complaints received so far, the suspect has defrauded over a staggering Rs.2,510 million.
The CID has launched extensive investigations into those who said to have been in contact with Priyamali, who is in remand custody.
Last week, the CID informed the Colombo Magistrate’s Court that they have so far received 14 complaints against Thilini Priyamali.
Four suspects, including Thilini Priyamali, Isuru Bandara, Janaki Siriwardane and Ven. Borelle Sirisumana Thera are held in remand custody.
