The Maradana Police has started an extensive investigation regarding the death of a young man and a young woman who were suddenly taken ill and admitted to the Colombo National Hospital while consuming some drug during a party held at a restaurant in Nelum Kulun, Colombo. Sri Lanka Latest News
A senior police officer conducting the investigation said that the deceased were a 27-year-old girl named Hettiarachi Rasangika Rukshani, who worked as a manager of a beauty salon, and a 22-year-old youth named Samindu Tiranga Fernando, a resident of Dehiwala.
The two who fell ill after consuming these drugs were admitted to the Colombo National Hospital by the personnel present at the scene and later died while undergoing treatment.
The Maligakanda Magistrate conducted the preliminary magisterial investigations of the two deceased and ordered the police to conduct the post-mortem examinations of the two deceased at the Colombo Forensic Medical Officer’s office and submit the reports.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Dona Rasika Nilanti, the mother of the deceased girl, has stated to the police that her daughter’s death is suspicious. The police also told the newspaper ‘Diwayna’ that a young man claiming to be her boyfriend claimed that seven people, including the deceased Rasangika, had consumed some kind of drug at that party.
Regarding the incident, a team of officers including Police Constable Samantha (49602) is conducting further investigations on the instructions of Maradana Police Station Chief Inspector Ishantha Kumara Apalakotuwa.
