The Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) launched an investigation following a complaint received by the Financial and Commercial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) regarding the alleged defrauding of Rs. 27.5 million from an individual in the Weeraketiya area, on the pretext of providing an excise licence.
Accordingly, investigating officers arrested 58-year-old Jayalath Bandara Dissanayake in the Hanguranketha area yesterday morning (14) in connection with the incident.
The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court today (15), while the CCIB is conducting further investigations into the incident.
