Tour operators and forest officers blamed for minister son’s misbehaviour in ‘Yala’ sanctuary.

According to the Secretary of the Ministry of Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation, Mrs. Chandra Herath, regarding the incidednt a gang that has been driving vehicles at high speed and making noise in the Yala Park the ministry has decided to suspend the services of tourist guides and forest officers.

The ministry secretary who said that an investigation will be conducted on the officials after the suspension of service, said that the forest officials had the ability to intervene or inform the higher officials if the tourists were harassing wild animals, but they did not take any such action in this case.

The Minister of Wildlife and Forest Conservation, Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera said that under the Wildlife and Vegetation Ordinance, this group of tourists has committed serious misconduct and the law should be strictly implemented in this regard.

The Minister had previously instructed the Director General of Wildlife to take steps to prosecute the concerned group.
