Professor G. L Peiris said that a one-day debate will be held in Parliament next week regarding the X-press Pearl ship incident, and the credibility of Chamara Gunasekara’s actions should be investigated. Mr. G. L. Peiris said this in this morning (02) at the press conference held at the main office of Janata Sabha in Nawala.
Mr. Peiris pointed out that England’s money laundering laws are very strong and that the governor of the Central Bank should inform the country about this chain of events, which is his responsibility.
Mr. Peiris said that the government always asks the IMF to present alternatives that can be done without leaving the country.
Mr. Peiris said that if this incident happened in Sri Lanka’s watershed, it should be prosecuted in the Sri Lankan court and not in the Singaporean court.
