The government did not give water to farmers and held it for electricity! Agree to give water when all water had receded – Sajith I Sri Lanka Latest News

Udawalawe reservoir capacity two is hundred and seventeen thousand acre feet but recently when farmers demanded water it had two thousand acre feet , but now it had receded to  918 acre feet the opposition leader said in the parliament today . Sri Lanka Latest News

Because of this, water is supplied to 7 units such as left bank and right bank. Nearly 30,000 families are cultivating paddy, banana, sugarcane and maize in 62,000 acres. If water was released a week ago when water was requested, this problem would have been solved to a large extent, but the cabinet did not provide water to the farmers. The opposition leader said that this problem was aggravated because it was decided to give compensation by saving water for electricity.

But the decision to release the water after the water has completely receded shows that the government is acting without proper management and the central nervous system of the government has been disabled, Mr. Sajith Premadasa said.

The Leader of the Opposition said this today (8) in the Parliament raising his voice in the Parliament regarding the water rights of Udawalawa farmers.

Mr. Sajith Premadasa, the opposition leader, said here that the government which did not form selection committees for excreta fertilizers is trying to form selection committees against the media which exposed the plight of the farmers who are crying without water to the country.
