The Parliamentary Committee on Government Finance advised the Auditor General to conduct a forensic audit regarding the wheat flour issue. Sri Lanka Latest News

The Chairman of the Committee, Member of Parliament Dr. Harsha De Silva said that a report in this regard should be given within two months.

The Parliamentary Committee on Government Finance stated here that a price formula is needed to regulate the price of wheat flour.

Under the Singapore Free Trade Agreement, the Parliamentary Committee on Government Finance received the approval to reduce taxes on many other goods.

The members pointed out that wheat flour is sold at different prices in the markets of this country.

The committee informed the officials that a kilo of wheat flour could be sold for Rs.190.

The chairman said that two price calculations are being used in setting the price of wheat flour and this situation should be changed.

The Parliamentary Committee on Government Finance under the chairmanship of its Chairman, Dr. Harsha De Silva, met at the Parliament recently. These orders were given in that meeting.
