After five years of inactivity, the Sri Lanka-Maldives Friendship Forum (SLFF) has been officially re-launched by Sri Lankan High Commissioner Ranga Goonawardena, marking a renewed effort to unite and support the Sri Lankan community living in the Maldives. The well-attended relaunch event, led by His Excellency Ranga Goonawardena, showcased the forum’s mission as a vital platform for all Sri Lankans in the Maldives to connect, engage in activities, and foster a sense of community.

Revitalizing the SLFF has been a key priority for High Commissioner Goonawardena since taking office, with the aim of providing Sri Lankans in the Maldives a place to meet, network, and collaborate on various cultural, social, and community initiatives. The newly appointed executive committee is committed to taking the SLFF forward through innovative and engaging programs.

“The re-launch of the Sri Lanka-Maldives Friendship Forum after five years is an important milestone for the Sri Lankan community here in the Maldives. This forum will serve as a gathering space for all Sri Lankans, providing opportunities to come together, build connections, and support one another,” said High Commissioner Goonawardena.

The SLFF will focus on organizing regular events, discussions, and activities designed to meet the needs and interests of the Sri Lankan community. It aims to serve as a hub for cultural and social engagement, ensuring that the community remains closely connected while away from home.

High Commissioner Goonawardena expressed enthusiasm for the future of the forum, stating, “I am excited about the potential of the SLFF to bring our Sri Lankan community together. This forum will offer a joyful and supportive environment, and I encourage all Sri Lankans in the Maldives to actively participate and contribute to its success.”
