Mr. Joseph Stalin stated that in 2024, 473 individuals have been caught engaging in examination fraud, including divisional directors and officials.

The ongoing crisis surrounding the release of examination papers signals a significant failure within the examination department. On April 12, 2024, the department submitted a list of 473 individuals involved in various forms of cheating. These individuals have been banned from sitting exams. However, beyond this, little action appears to have been taken. Notably, the list includes divisional directors and various officials. A thorough reorganization of the examination department is urgently needed.

In a related development, the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka announced that investigations by the Criminal Investigation Department regarding the early release of the Grade 5 scholarship examination paper have not yet concluded. In a notice issued yesterday (1st), the Commission urged the Secretary of the Ministry of Education to refrain from making any decisions concerning the Grade 5 scholarship examination until the investigation is complete.
