The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has decided to initiate legal action against Local Government Commissioner Ms. Sarangika Jayasundara, accusing her of acting in violation of the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Public Administration during today’s election.

This decision was made during a special meeting held this evening at the Opposition Leader’s Office, chaired by Mr. Sajith Premadasa, following the election of positions in the Colombo Municipal Council.

Several senior members of the party and a President’s Counsel participated in the discussion. During the meeting, legal advice was presented indicating that the Local Government Commissioner had conducted a secret ballot without adhering to the officially prescribed procedures.

Based on this legal counsel, the party has resolved to take legal steps against Ms. Jayasundara. It has been revealed that formal legal proceedings are expected to be filed in the coming days.

Furthermore, it is reported that the SJB has also decided to engage in discussions with other opposition parties regarding this matter.
