Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, the National Executive Member of the National People’s Force, says that there is an attempt to disseminate wrong information about a debate to be held between Mr. Anura Dissanayake and Mr. Sajith Premadasa. Sri Lanka Latest News

Therefore, he points out that the true situation should be explained.

Accordingly, issuing a press release, he points out,

“The first talk about a debate between the two parties is created with the statement made by the leader of our party Comrade Anura Kumara Dissanayake on 09.01.2023 in a television program that he is ready for a debate with Mr. Sajith Premadasa on the country’s development path. This is in response to the comments raised by journalists about the situation in which Mr. Sajith Premadasa was presenting facts against the National People’s Force in various media.”

“However, Mr. Sajith Premadasa did not accept the challenge of the debate for any reason and later, instead, several MPs of that party presented a topic of having a debate on economic policies with the Economic Council of the National People’s Power. Now we observe that the attempt made by several members of the Samagi Jana Balavega to advance a discussion on the second debate proposal by suppressing the original discussion on the debate has been thwarted by the press release issued by the MP Nalin Bandara yesterday (09).

“In that announcement, he accuses the National People’s Power Economic Council of avoiding the debate and that he was the first to propose the debate and that the National People’s Power has forgotten the past. But the National People’s Power Economic Council has no need to avoid a debate on the economy at all and it has a strategic plan and practical program related to the recovery of Sri Lanka from the economic crisis and the development of the world into a developed country. Based on the first conversation about a debate, and as candidates for the upcoming presidential election in 2024, we emphasize the need to hold this debate between Comrade Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Mr. Sajith Premadasa. Also, let’s hope that in this situation, it will be very clear to the people who is suffering from the disease of forgetting the past.”

“Considering all this, we would like to submit the following proposals to the United People’s Force.”

  1. We are ready to hold a debate between Comrade Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the leader of the National People’s Force and Mr. Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the United People’s Force, on the path to recovery from the entire crisis that the country has fallen into.
  2. If the United People’s Force is not ready for such a debate and accordingly it is not held, the Economic Council of the National People’s Force is ready to hold a debate with a similar representative group of the United People’s Force.

“In this situation, we request all parties related to the Samagi Jana Balawega to refrain from spreading false information about the debate and we request the people not to be misled by their false information and to understand the true situation correctly.”
