His mother alleges that her son’s testicle had to be surgically removed due to an attack by a group of Medavachchi police officers. Sri Lanka Latest New

Police say the youth was not assaulted and was acting aggressively when they went to arrest him.

A 23-year-old resident of Medavachchia Tulaveli village, Anuradhapura had gone to Medavachchia town in a lorry with his friend on the 7th.

The young man’s mother says that two officers of the Medavachchiya Police Traffic Division, who were chasing behind the lorry, stopped the lorry and assaulted her son and his friend.

She alleges that one of her son’s testicles had to be surgically removed due to the serious injuries sustained in the assault.

The assaulted young man is currently receiving treatment at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.

He says that a group of police officers who came to the place in a three-wheeler also seriously assaulted him and his friend.

When we inquired about the incident, the Medavachchiya Police stated that the lorry in which the two youths were traveling was ordered to stop, but they continued to drive forward and had to be chased and arrested.

The police said that they had illegal liquor in their possession and threw it out of the vehicle at that time.

The police said that at the time of this incident, the concerned youth was drunk and he did not have a valid driver’s license.

The director of Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, Dr. Dulan Samaraweera, stated that the left testicle of the young man in question was surgically removed.
