A special meeting took place today between the Italian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Mr. Damiano Francovig, and the Deputy Head of the Italian Embassy, Dr. Alberto Arcidiacono, at the office of the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Sajith Premadasa.
Following the meeting, the Leader of the Opposition issued a statement, which reads:
“It became clear during the discussion that Sri Lanka must deepen its engagement with Italy and Europe to better understand the issues and opportunities that exist. These regions still hold untapped potential and emerging prospects. It was evident that the global community is willing to support us—if we can create value through our industries. Reviving our economy must take precedence over politics. It is a national mission. To achieve this, we need unity, a clear vision, and intelligent, harmonious partnerships as a nation.”
