Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Parliamentarian D.V. Chanaka has alleged that the National People’s Power (NPP) is attempting to form councils by securing the backing of elected SLPP members.
Speaking in Parliament, MP Chanaka claimed to possess CCTV footage that shows members of the NPP both approaching and threatening SLPP representatives to gain their support.
“In the past, the National People’s Power accused independent groups of harboring thieves. They said the old thieves came from those independent factions. Now, those same members are secretly reaching out to us,” he stated.
He further alleged that the NPP is now employing new methods to make contact without being detected. “They are no longer using mobile phones, fearing their conversations might be recorded. Instead, they are visiting our members’ homes directly. We are cautioning them that CCTV cameras are installed in those homes too,” the MP added.
