The name of Professor Manjula Fernando for the position of Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission was recently proposed to the Legislative Assembly by President Ranil Wickramasinghe.
Mr. Manjula Fernando is a professor in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Peradeniya.
Mr. Janaka Ratnayake was previously the chairman of the Public Utilities Commission, and he was removed from that position recently.
