Senior Lecturer Udaya Kumara Amarasinghe, Chairman of the National Child Protection Authority, said this while speaking to the media.
In the meantime, Mr. Udaya Kumara Amarasinghe, who spoke further, mentioned that underage girls becoming mothers has become a serious social and legal problem.
According to police reports last November, 10 minor girls have become pregnant.
Senior Lecturer Udaya Kumara Amarasinghe, the Chairman of the National Child Protection Authority, has further disclosed that 2000 child mothers have been reported in the past year.
He points out that in order to save children from this unfortunate situation, they should be given good knowledge about sexual abuse and how to prevent it.
