The government says that there is a shortage of raw materials for poultry feed products due to the lack of sufficient stocks of maize in the market.
As a temporary measure for that, the Department of Animal Production and Health has given a license to the State trading Corporations to import 15000 metric tons of maize.
Meanwhile, since there is a trend of rapid increase in the price of eggs in the local market, the cabinet has approved to bring another one million and eighty lakh eggs from the Indian markets as recommended by the Department of Animal Production and Health.
Also, the Cabinet has approved the import of fifty thousand metric tons of GR 11 rice, which is similar to Keeri Samba rice.
To control the price of rice in the market, approval has been received in the Cabinet meeting held on 20/11/2023 to import 50000 metric tons of rice as recommended by the Food Policy Committee.
