According to the national policy formulated by the Electricity Board itself, the electricity bill can be revised twice a year.
That’s only in January and July.

Even though electricity tariff revision has already been done in July, the minister is asking permission for electricity tariff revision in October as well.

According to the Public Utilities Commission Act, it is mandatory to get public comments and suggestions for the electricity tariff revision.

Lanka Electricity Board has estimated a loss of 31 billion rupees for this year. The minister is asking to raise the electricity bill to cover the loss.
