The chairman of the Land Reforms Commission, Mr. Nilantha Wijesinghe, submitted his letter of resignation to the Minister of Lands, Harin Fernando, on the evening of the 5th. Sri Lanka Latest News

It was learned from inside sources that he had resigned due to a conflict of opinion with a politician regarding a 40-acre piece of land belonging to the Land Reforms Commission, but when asked, he said that he submitted his resignation for personal reasons.

He mentions that he spent almost 04 years after being appointed to the Land Reforms Commission and during that time he supported the Ministry in giving deeds to temples and those who could legally give land including those without deeds.

He further says that he was working legally and despite receiving various demands outside the law, he did not work to fulfil them.
