The India – Sri Lanka Foundation (ISLF) was established in 1998 by a Memorandum of Understanding between the governments of India and Sri Lanka to strengthen India – Sri Lanka relations by fostering economic, scientific, technical, and cultural cooperation and to develop greater understanding between the people of the two countries.
India- Sri Lanka Foundation invites project proposals in the fields of Art & Culture, Education, Agriculture, Science & Technology, Health, Social Works, Developmental Studies, Tourism and other educational activities at recognized institutions of learning. Proposals are also invited for visits and exchanges involving students, scholars, academics, artists, professionals and performing artistes. These may include participation in conference/seminar, symposia, art exhibition, film festival, cultural events, training workshops, publication of research works on India-Sri Lanka relations in the specified fields. Furthermore, proposals for translating literary works in Indian languages to Sri Lankan languages and publishing them, and vice-versa, are encouraged.
Individuals, institutions and groups are invited to submit proposals aligned with the above thrust areas, which will be considered during the upcoming meeting of the Board of Directors of ISLF, scheduled to be held in August 2026.
