Finance Ministry Secretary Mahinda Siriwardena said today before the Finance Committee of the Parliament that he has not declared that there is no money for the local government elections.

Mr. Siriwardena has informed the finance committee that although it is difficult to find money, if necessary, money can be found for the election.

This is how the chairman of the committee, Mr. Harsha de Silva, has recorded this on his Twitter account today.

At CoPF @ParliamentLK today ST Mahinda Siriwardene reiterated he never said Treasury didn’t have funds for the #SriLanka local government elections. Only that finding funds was very difficult (like for everything else) but the money could be found if necessary. pic.twitter.com/AMRzxI6zJw
