Union leader Mr. Ananda Palita says that the late fee to be paid for three fuel ships that have arrived in the island so far exceeds twenty eight hundred thousand twenty thousand US dollars.

A ship carrying 100,000 metric tons of crude oil has been stopped at sea for twenty-two days and the late fee to be paid to that ship is twenty-four hundred and forty thousand US dollars.

For the ship carrying 37,500 metric tons of diesel, nearly two hundred thousand dollars and for another ship carrying 40,000 metric tons of gasoline, nearly one hundred and eighty thousand American dollars have to be paid as late charges.

Mr. Ananda Palitha also says that enough wheat flour for six months can be brought to the country from the late fees to be paid for the fuel ships.
