During a visit by the Minister of Agriculture, Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation Mahinda Amaraweera to the Udawalawe National Park, a deer has died after being hit by his vehicle.

It is reported that due to high speed driving in the park and the driver’s being unable to control the vehicle, the deer hit the windshield of the vehicle, which was also severely damaged.

When asked about this, the minister admitted that such an incident took place. But the minister stated that it happened outside the national park limits and said that the news that the windshield of the vehicle was damaged is true.

According to Udawalawa National Park sources, the deer was hit inside the park. While it is prohibited to enter the park after 6 pm, this accident happened around 8 pm. The sources say that the vehicle came out of the park at around 11 p.m.
