Can a court case be brought against a Parliamentary speech? Opposition leader Sajith raises privilege concerns and questions the Speaker! ‘Of course not!’ The verdict is delivered by the speaker! Latest Sri Lanka News

Opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa raised a question of privilege and questioned the speaker in the parliament today whether it is possible to file a case against the ministers in a court of law regarding the statements made in the parliament. Sri Lanka Latest News

In reply, the Speaker said that it was clearly impossible to do such a thing.

A case has been filed before the Supreme Court alleging that former Sports Minister Mr. Roshan Ranasinghe insulted the court based on a statement he made in Parliament.
