Immediately summon those who went to court against a speech made in Parliament to the Privileges Committee! The Chief organizer of the opposition Kiriella asks the speaker! I Sri Lanka Latest News

The chief organizer of the opposition Mr. Lakshman Kiriella said that the persons who have filed a case before the court based on a statement made by an MP in the Parliament should be immediately summoned before the Privileges Committee of the Parliament and the Speaker has the powers to do so. Sri Lanka Latest News

Mr. Kiriella made this statement after the Speaker’s statement today that the statements made before Parliament cannot be challenged before the courts.

The Speaker had made this statement in response to a question of privilege raised by the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Sajith Premadasa.

A case has been filed before the court challenging a statement made by former sports minister Mr. Roshan Ranasinghe in Parliament.
