Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena has confirmed to the media that he received the name of the Acting Inspector General of Police yesterday (29) afternoon.
Accordingly, the Speaker has mentioned that the Constituency Assembly is expected to meet soon and decide on the appointment of the Acting Inspector General of Police.
The post of Inspector General of Police remained vacant after the extension of service given to Mr. C.D Wickramaratne, who served as Inspector General of Police, ended on the 24th.
