Browns Company, Led by Ishara Nanayakkara, Emerges as World’s Top Tea Exporter; Strikes Deals with Major Plantation Giants in Kenya, Rwanda, and Tanzania

The world’s largest tea company, LIPTON Teas and Infusions, has entered into an agreement with Sri Lanka’s Browns Investments PLC. Sri Lanka Latest News

According to this agreement, the tea estates of LIPTON Teas and Infusions in Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania will be transferred to Browns Investments.

Accordingly, Browns Investments is going to supply the harvest of the relevant tea plantations to LIPTON Teas and Infusions.

Under this long-term partnership, Browns Investments will supply approximately 87 million kilograms of tea annually to LIPTON Teas and Infusions, the world’s largest tea company. Accordingly, it is reported that Brown’s Investments will become the world’s largest tea exporter.

This is the second foreign business acquisition done by Browns Investments and earlier last year, Browns Investments managed to take James Finlay (Kenya) company under its business portfolio.

Browns Investments plc is one of the largest tea companies in Sri Lanka and manages 49 plantations through Mathurata Plantations Limited, Udupusellawa Plantations plc and Hapugasthanna Plantations plc.
