It is reported that Haleys Plc, one of the leading listed companies in Sri Lanka, is actively working to enter into a collaboration with China’s Chery Automobile. Sri Lanka Latest News
This was revealed in the speech given by Mr. Qi Zhenhong, the Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, while addressing the 23rd Annual General Meeting of the China-Sri Lanka Business Council held recently.
Here, the ambassador said that Sri Lanka’s John Keels Holdings has entered into a cooperation agreement with China’s famous new energy vehicle brand, BYD, for electric vehicles. Also, the ambassador said that efforts are being made to enter into a cooperation with Haileys PLC and Chery Automobile of China.
Hayleys plc is the 15th largest listed company in the country by market capitalization. Dhammika Perera, the Sri Lankan billionaire businessman, owns the controlling shares and he owns 51.01% of the share capital of Haileys PLC.
Chery Automobile is currently the fifth largest car manufacturer in China and Chery was founded in 1997. It is reported that the total number of cars sold by Chery Automobile in the year 2023 is 1,881,316.
