Anamaduwa Police OIC, whose appointment was cancelled by a state minister, has petitioned the Human Rights Commission for redress!

Chief Inspector of Police W.P.R. Abanayake who was appointed Anamaduwa as Police Station OIC It is reported that he has filed a complaint with the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka against the cancellation of his appointment. State Minister Sanath Nishantha had said that he cancelled this appointment.

A spokesman for the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission has confirmed that the Chief Inspector of Police has filed this complaint demanding that his fundamental rights were violated due to this incident and that a formal investigation be conducted and justice be done.

It is said that the Chief Inspector of Police has mentioned in the complaint that after the suspension of his appointment was published in the newspapers, the Minister of State Sanath Nishantha has given defamatory statements referring to his  name through some television channels.

Chief Inspector W.P.R. Abeyanayake who was appointed as the Police Station  OIC was suspended on the 19th due to the intervention of the Minister of State.
