According to the Meteorological Department, the current rain situation over the island can be expected to continue for the next few days.

The Meteorological Department says that the current rain situation over the island can be expected for the next few days.

The department states that scattered rain or thundershowers may occur in many parts of the island today (03) after 1.00 pm.

There will also be rain in the morning in the coastal areas of Western and Southern provinces and Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mannar and Puttalam districts.

In some places in Eastern and Uva provinces and Polonnaruwa district, rain of around 100 mm could be expected. The Department of Meteorology announces that there may be heavy rains.

In other parts of the island, some places will receive 75mm and  mostly cloudy.

The Department of Meteorology requests the people to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
