An audit report has revealed that a former chairman of Litro Gas Lanka Limited, holding the position of executive officer of the company without proper approval, has received more than fifteen hundred thousand rupees per month as salary and allowances including salaries, vehicles, fuel allowances and entertainment allowances for both positions.

According to the audit report, the former chairman received a monthly salary of 5,75,000 rupees for the position of chairman and fifty percent of the salary for the executive officer.

Also, it is stated in the report that he has received a monthly entertainment allowance of 150,000 rupees which is due to the executive officer.

According to the audit report, although the monthly vehicle allowance for one officer was approved as Rs.50,000, this former chairman received a monthly vehicle allowance of Rs.4,43,300 for the two positions.

According to the audit report, although the approved monthly fuel allowance for this post is 150 litres, the chairman has taken 500 liters of fuel per month for the two posts.

According to the report, the former chairman has also taken a driver’s allowance of 50,000 rupees per month contrary to the circulars.

The report has also stated that both these positions are held by the same person and because he is a representative of the board of directors, it creates a conflict between the relatives in making decisions about the benefits for the two positions.

According to the audit report, the decision to make the above payments has been made by the board of directors of the company he also represents, and although the approval of the treasury should be obtained for that, the approval has not been obtained.

The Auditor General has mentioned this in an audit report issued on December 31, 2021 regarding Litro Gas Lanka Limited.

According to the company’s internal sources, after 2019, the same person holds both the positions of the company’s chairman and chief executive officer.
