For the first time, we are revealing to the country through ‘Mawrata’ a very special photograph of a special meeting that took place during the visit of USAID’s Chief Administrator, Mrs. Samantha Power, to Sri Lanka.

The peculiarity here is that even after 04 days of this incident related to this photograph took place , no media in Sri Lanka has given any publicity to this photograph or to the news related to it.

The incident related to this picture happened last Tuesday.

On this day, a special discussion took place between Mrs. Samantha Power and all the representatives of the opposition political parties at the Waters Edge Hotel in Battaramulla.

The leader of Samagi Jana Balavegaya and opposition leader Sajith Premadasa, Sri Lankan freedom Party Secretary General Dayasiri Jayasekara, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna Member of Parliament Harini Amarasuriya, Tamil National Alliance Media Spokesperson Mr. M.A. Sumanthiran, Muslim Congress leader Rauf Hakeem, All Ceylon Muslim Congress leader Rishad Badiuddin and Tamil Progressive Alliance member Mano Ganesan and the American Ambassador to Sri Lanka Mrs. Julie Chang were also present.

In that discussion, all the representatives of the opposition have emphasized to Mrs. Samantha Pawar that the current government does not have any people’s mandate, therefore, space should be provided for a government with a people’s mandate to from as soon as possible.

These opposition representatives had indirectly indicated to Mrs. Samantha Pawar that the government should be forced to hold a general election immediately.

In addition, it has been learned that the opposition representatives have informed Mrs. Samantha Pawar about the repression that the government has launched targeting the activists who were currently engaged in the struggle.

Prior to this discussion, a separate face-to-face discussion between Mr. Sajith Premadasa and Mrs. Samantha Pawar was held at the Water’s Edge Hotel.
