A horrific accident occurred when an SLTB bus and a cement-loaded lorry collided in the Madampe-Galahitiawa area on the Halawatha-Colombo road.
About 35 people were injured in the accident and have been admitted to Chilaw General Hospital for treatment.
Hospital sources report that the condition of some patients is serious.
The incident happened this morning (04) when an SLTB bus travelling from Devala Junction to Colombo via Chilaw lost control of its speed and collided with a cement truck travelling in the same direction from Puttalam to Colombo.
The side of the bus was severely damaged in the collision.
