The annual six-a-side cricket tournament organized by Sri Lanka Food Processors Association (SLFPA) was held on the 5th of November 2022 at the Colombo Colts Cricket Club Grounds. Thirty-six teams comprising both men and women, representing 23 member companies in Processed Food, Processed Beverages, Machinery & Packaging, International Food Certification, Food Ingredients and Casual Dining categories, competed for the SLFPA Challenge Shield. The tournament that was conducted on a league basis helped create a high degree of interaction, relationship, understanding and fellowship among the employees of the participating member companies.

A key event in the calendars of SLFPA members, the tournament brings professionals from various organizations together in a spirit of fun and sportsmanship. The participating teams’ families were also included in the tournament this year.

While Team Pizzakraft Lanka triumphed in the tournament, Team Burau Veritas finished in the runners-up position. The Plate winners were the Nestle Lanka PLC. The ‘Man of the Match’ and the ‘Woman of the Match’ awards were secured by Malith De Silva and Shashika Harshani of Gamma Pizzakraft Lanka. respectively.

Moreover, enthused attendees participated in mini-contests such as karaoke, dancing, and best marquee competitions that were organised in parallel to the cricket tournament. Unable to single out a single winner among the many exhilarating performances, judges decided to name Leon Rambukwella of Neochem International (Pvt) Ltd and M.D. Nuwan of Westnann Engineering Co. (Pvt) Ltd as karaoke champions of the evening. Talented Priya Ganesha of CMC Engineering GmbH grabbed both the ‘Female Karaoke Champion’ and the ‘Best Dancer’ titles.

This year’s tournament was held with the patronage of the Platinum sponsor Life Insurance Corporation (Lanka) Ltd (LIC), the Gold sponsor Gamma Pizzakraft Lanka Private limited, Silver Sponsors Sunquick BiBi, Elephant House, and CBL Group, and Lanka Exhibitions & Conference Services Limited (LECS) as the Service Partner of the event. CMC Engineering GMBH, Perera & Sons Limited, Commercial Bank PLC, and Pan Asia Bank PLC also joined hands with SLFPA in making this event a success.
