Minister of Health and Mass Media, and Cabinet Spokesperson, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, was questioned during an appearance on Derana TV regarding a recent statement made by National People’s Power (NPP) Member of Parliament, Nilanthi Kottachchi.
During the interview, the journalist inquired about MP Kottachchi’s claim that Rs. 98 million had been spent on New Year greeting text messages in the past, and that this expense was avoided this year by not sending such messages.
In response, Minister Jayatissa stated that he did not have precise information on the matter. However, he acknowledged that certain individuals within the party have made problematic statements and noted that he is taking steps to address and rectify these issues.
The interview also saw the journalist raising pointed questions about the frequent dissemination of false information by several members of the ruling party. Minister Jayatissa appeared somewhat uncomfortable while responding to these accusations, but addressed the concerns raised during the broadcast.
