The Cabinet has granted approval for the implementation of a comprehensive economic census, with agricultural activities scheduled to be covered in 2025 and non-agricultural activities in 2026.
The Department of Census and Statistics last conducted an economic census during the 2013/14 period. To update and expand on the data collected during that time, the Department has planned to carry out the new economic census in two separate phases, targeting both agricultural and non-agricultural sectors.
This initiative received Cabinet approval following a proposal submitted by the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development.
