Kumar Sangakkara, the former Sri Lankan captain and ex-chairman of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), has been named the chairman of the World Cricket Advisory Committee (WCAC) of the MCC in England. The MCC serves as the custodian of the game’s laws and traditions.
Notably, the WCAC under Sangakkara’s leadership also includes Jay Shah, the current chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), highlighting a convergence of cricketing governance at the global level.
The committee features an esteemed lineup of former cricketers and leaders in the sport, including Graeme Smith, Sourav Ganguly, Andrew Strauss, and England’s current captain, Heather Knight.
The WCAC is set to convene at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London on June 7 and 8, just days before the final of this year’s ICC World Test Championship.
