It indicates that there is a possibility of strong lightning today (11) in the afternoon or at night.
The department states that this warning will be effective for Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and North-West provinces and Galle and Matara districts.
As there is a high possibility of strong lightning with thundershowers in the evening or night in the concerned areas, the weather authorities request the people to take necessary measures to reduce the possible accidents caused by lightning.
It is pointed out that there will be temporary strong winds when there are thunderstorms.
