Accordingly, a police team was deployed by the Mulleriya police station to check the CCTV data on the relevant day, and it was revealed that the woman in question had gone from Angoda to Kaduwela in a blue tricycle.
The CCTV camera recorded her coming in front of a grocery store located in the centre of Kaduwela city, along with a person in the driver’s seat of a car parked in the parking lot.
There, the woman bought food and both of them left the place after having food for about 10 minutes.
They leave in a grey car bearing KI 3030, and the woman in question has been missing since then, police said.
Later, during the search conducted by the Mulleriya police regarding the car in question, it was discovered that it belonged to a businessman named Sudheera Wasantha, who is a resident of Siambalape area.
It has been revealed that the woman in question has been in a close relationship with him for about 20 years.
Both of them have been arguing for some time due to a money dispute, and the police have stated that both are married.
Later, when the police inspected an abandoned house in his Siambalape area, they found long hair and bloodstains inside a room, as well as parts of women’s clothes with bloodstains that were partially burnt outside the house.
After informing the Sapugaskanda police about it, yesterday afternoon, while investigating, a dead body of a woman without a head and limbs was found on the bank of the Kelani River, which was about a kilometre away from the house in question.
In an inquiry we made in this regard, Police Media Spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police Advocate Nihal Talduwa said that the body in question was identified as that of TG Pradeepa, a 51-year-old woman who had been missing for a long time, by her relatives this afternoon.
He also mentioned that he is seeking public assistance to arrest the person who had a close relationship with her.
At present, a foreign travel ban has been imposed on Sudheera Wasantha, 55 years old.
Mulleriya Police and Sapugaskanda Police are conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
