In conjunction with the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, a round table discussion on “Economic Opportunities in Sri Lanka” will be held at the Pierre Hotel in New York with the participation of President Ranil Wickremesinghe and the most powerful businessmen of America. The American Ambassador Mr. Mahinda Samarasinghe and the BCIU Business Council of New York organized this meeting and about 45 of the country’s strongest companies joined it. And 18 strong companies in Sri Lanka also joined it.
Addressing the round table, the President explained the current economic background of Sri Lanka, the steps taken and expected to be taken in the future, and the economic reforms. Answering many problems raised by the stakeholders, the President also invited them to come to Sri Lanka and participate in the development of Sri Lanka through investments.
Networking of strong American companies and Sri Lankan companies was also done here. It is also special that most of the companies that joined this event belong to the Fortune 500.
