The Sunday ‘Morning’ newspaper has reported that the American government has informed President Ranil Wickremesinghe that the local government elections should be held on time.
The newspaper states that this notification was made during the discussion held last week between Mrs. Rear Admiral Eileen Laubacher, Senior Director of South Asia of the American National Security Council (NSC) and the President.
The newspaper reveals that regional security has also been discussed here.
Mrs. Julia Chang, the American Ambassador to Sri Lanka, also attended this meeting.
