The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather update indicating that rain is expected at various times today, October 20, in the Sabaragamuwa Province and the districts of Kalutara, Galle, and Matara.
Isolated rain showers may also affect the North-West Province, as well as the Colombo, Gampaha, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya districts.
The Eastern and Uva provinces are likely to experience rain or thundershowers in certain areas during the evening or night.
Additionally, occasional gusts of wind are anticipated along the western slopes of the central hills and in the north-central and southern provinces, with wind speeds possibly reaching 40-45 kilometers per hour.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to mitigate the risks associated with temporary strong winds and lightning that may accompany thunderstorms.
