Former MP Namal Rajapaksa appeared before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today following a summons. After being questioned for two and a half hours, he addressed the media regarding the investigation.
According to Rajapaksa, the CID had summoned him in relation to an incident that reportedly took place between 2010 and 2015. The investigation was initiated after the CID received an anonymous complaint alleging that a sum of money had been left in his room.
During the questioning, Rajapaksa stated that he had no knowledge of such an incident. Speaking to journalists after the session, he remarked that further information could only be obtained directly from the CID.
